Broadway beckoned in 1948, and he was cast as the Widow Shane in a production of Rapscallions Make Off With My Heart. Then his hits Who Has Time For Mutton? (1966) and Flibbertigibbet! (1968) propelled him to greater heights. Chronic bunions bedeviled him for decades, curtailing his otherwise rocket-powered trip to the top. His ill health was due to his eating habits, but he really dug corn dogs.
